How It Works
There’s not any wiggle room to get this done, so the choices are pretty simple and come down to 2 hosting providers: WordPress.com (Pressable) or DreamHostVPS*.
*DreamHost Web Hosting Growth is available for 1 Yr, but must be requested at the time of order.
Starting off with ProtonMail
To streamline the process, and if needed, a new encrypted Proton email account will be created and used to setup all the other accounts. Basic Proton email is free but does not include custom domains, which is available with the Plus plan and above.
However, custom domain email addresses and services are often included or discounted with hosting packages. More on that in the email setup portion below.
Step 1: Domain + Hosting
Hosting
*Hosting costs for 2 months are included with the Quiki.Site plan. Hosting fees currently run about $30/month for either WordPress.com or DreamHostVPS.
Domains
Both hosting companies offer a free or deeply discounted domain name with most hosting plans for the first year. Depending on the domain TLD (com, org, net…) the annual renewal rate thereafter remains relatively economical.
Both companies are tried and true establishments that I personally use..
How do I know which domain to choose?

The process of choosing your domain name should take some thought and be intentional. If your business name is available and not lengthy, then it would make the most sense to go ahead and register it.
If not, then I recommend taking some time to research and consider how your customers will try to find you online, and what words they might use when searching for your product or service.
Step 2: Custom Email
Thoughtful branding efforts can create a sense of trust and separate you from the competition. One of the easiest, and most effective ways to do this, is by having a matching custom domain email address.
This would be the best time in the setup process to create at least one custom domain email address.
A custom domain email address is one where your website URL is used for the hosted server name. For example, my custom domain email address is Lxxxx@LEIFQ.me compared to a gmail address which is, Lxxxx@gmail.com
What’s wrong with just using my Gmail?

Using Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, or any other similar email addresses for your business contact could unintentionally communicate a lack of professionalism or legitimacy to customers who are not familiar with your establishment.
Not only will your custom domain email address show that you care about your brand (and therefore your customers), but will also provide a direct path to your website.
Your new business email can be set up to integrate with most email clients like Firefox Thunderbird, Apple Mail, etc.
The domain can also be mapped to secure email providers like Proton, although a paid subscription is often required. This is my recommended method.
Step 3: WordPress Website
With your new domain and hosting account in place, and business email address in service, it’s time to get your WordPress website installed and published.
If it’s just a 1-page website, why does it need to be built on WordPress?
The answer to that question is scalability.
In short, as your business grows, so will your digital needs. The smart thing to do is to anticipate those needs early on and build on a foundation that will hold up over time.

The effort and cost to create a single page website is going to be the same (or more economical) using WordPress vs a simple static HTML page. The value becomes more apparent as your website grows along with your business.
To get an idea of the types of websites being built on WordPress, I encourage you to take a look at the showcase page on WordPress.org. You’ll also find a list of household brand names that have built their business websites on the WordPress CMS, which currently drives approximately 40% of all websites on the internet.
